About this tool
A single PDF from a scanner or a legal disclosure often contains dozens of unrelated documents run together. Splitting by page range is the direct way to separate them: specify which pages belong to each output file and they land as independent PDFs, without touching the originals.
The fixed-interval mode — every N pages — is the right choice when you have a batch of uniform items. Monthly bank statements are usually the same length, invoices from a particular system are always two pages, scanned forms are consistently one page each. Set the interval once and the whole stack cuts itself apart.
Questions
What format do page ranges use?
Standard range notation: single pages like "5", closed ranges like "3-7", and open-ended ranges like "10-end". Separate multiple ranges with commas or put each on its own line. Each entry produces a separate output file.
Can I split every page into its own file?
Yes. Use "Every N pages" with N set to 1, and the tool produces one PDF per page. This is useful for extracting individual invoices from a batch-printed statement.
Does splitting preserve annotations and links?
Yes. Internal links that point within the same extracted range are preserved and their destinations remapped. Links that pointed to pages outside the extracted range are removed, since their targets no longer exist in the output file.
